Meet Lurinda

Occupational Therapist, mom and passionate advocate for early intervention.

I’m Lurinda Prinsloo, an Occupational Therapist with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Intervention.  I am also a mom who understands that the early years can feel both joyful and overwhelming. My passion is helping parents and professionals feel confident in supporting a child’s development, whether that’s through therapy, practical tools, or expert-led training.

MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

For nearly two decades, I’ve worked in settings that share one goal - helping children thrive and supporting the families and professionals who care for them. My journey has taken me from government hospitals and specialised clinics to non-profit organisations, community-based programmes and national projects, always guided by a passion for inclusion and development.

Running early intervention and developmental clinics
Supporting children with complex physical and neurodevelopmental needs
Creating inclusive play and early childhood development opportunities

      Mentoring and guiding healthcare professionals

These days, my work brings together two areas close to my heart:

  • With Shonaquip Social Enterprise, I help drive disability inclusion and improve access to assistive technology across Southern Africa. I use my clinical experience to support project planning, grant writing, and partnerships that build lasting, inclusive systems.

  • Through my private practice, I offer hands-on clinical services, parent education, and professional training through my pOTent Parenting and pOTent Therapy platforms.

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERTISE

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Intervention

  • Advanced training in the General Movement Assessment (GMA)

  • Training in Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination (HINE)

  • Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT), including Advanced Baby NDT

  • Intermediate training in Wheelchair Service Provision

  • South African liaison for GMA training

  • Extensive clinical experience in early intervention and disability inclusion

WHAT I BELIEVE

I believe that supporting a child’s development should feel practical, meaningful, and family-friendly. Early intervention works best when it’s rooted in real life - not just in therapy rooms.

WHY THIS MATTERS TO ME

As both an OT and a mom, I know that early development isn’t just about milestones - it’s about connection, confidence, and the little steps that shape a child’s future. This personal and professional journey drives my commitment to creating resources and services that truly make a difference.
